LECTURE NOTES
Lecture 1 - Introduction to Video and Sound Production
26/08/19 (Week 1)
We started of with Mr Martin and Mr Razif giving us a brief introduction of the module and giving us an overview if the exercises and projects ahead. To give a clear idea of the what was required of us in the module they showed us some examples of work done by some of the senior students. We were also informed that for this module we will be mainly using Adobe Audition and Adobe Premiere Pro.
For our first assignment we were told do lookup Stop Motion Videos online and select 3 videos. For our Final Project were told we have to create a Stop motion Video that is 1 minute long and our first assignment was given so that we have clear understanding of what Stop motion is.
After looking up some videos I selected the following.
Fig 1.1 Example 1
Example 1
The video was very simple and done using everyday household objects. What I liked most about this was the way those household items were used to depict something completely opposite, Food.
Fig 1.2 Example 2
Example 2
This short clip was made using paper cutout and clay. The animation was very smooth. I particularly liked the idea of using cutouts to create the animations. This technique created a very smooth effect and it almost seemed the animation was computer animated.
Fig 1.3 Example 3
Example 3
The concept behind this video is very interesting. The animation shows an outraged office workers tearing apart his office clothes because he was fired and using this to make his meal. The sound effects added compliments each action.
Lecture 2 -
04/09/19 (Week 2)
In today's class Mr martin can us brief into the basic tools to use when using Adobe Premiere Pro. He told us that using the different tools such as the Ripple edit tool, rate stretch and the rolling edit tool can help to make our tasks more efficient. Mr martin the told us how to edit our videos in such a way that the transitions will look smoother. For example he explained to us that overlapping audio on top of clips can help to make the transition appear faster and smoother saving time in the video.
We were told to start preparations for our final project which is the stop motion video. I started thinking about what I wanted my story to portray and looking up more examples of stop motion Videos.
Stop Motion Idea: I had the idea of a video to show a destroyed Earth. A look into the what the future will look like if we keep polluting the earth.

EXERCISES
Week 1
Exercise 1
For our First exercise we were given a set of clips that was filmed by one of the senior batches. these clips were based on a scene from a Netflix Show. Our task was to arrange the clips and closely recreate the original scene.
Fig 1.1 Importing Video Clips into Workspace
Fig 1.2 Sequence arranged and sequence order
We spent the day working on getting the clips in the right order and trimming of any unnecessary content from each clip.
Week 2
Continuing Exercise 1
We were told By Mr martin that we had to re work on our clips and get the video to be exactly 50 seconds.
Fig 2.1 Overlapping audio
Fig 2.2 Adding multiple shots into one audio slot
In order to reduce the length of the video we trimmed out any unnecessary points in our video. Mr martin also told us that we can overlap audio and video files to increase the pace of the shots. After applying these changes I got Final Video clip shortened to exactly 50 Seconds. The final Video can be seen below.

Week 2 (Audio Class)
Exercise 1
Because it was a Public holiday we did not have a session for Audio, Instead Mr Razif gave us our lectures on Google Classroom. We were introduced to Adobe Audition an taught how to use the Parametric Equalizer. Mr Razif also sent 6 Audio files that we had to adjust using the Parametric Equalizer.

Week 3
Exercise 3
Mr martin then assigned us with an exercise to give us better understanding of the different camera angles.
Fig 3.1 Shooting Practice sample shots 1
Fig 3.2 Shooting Practice sample shots 4
The exercise was to shoot a video with scenes recorded in each of the angles show in the samples. Each shot must be 3 seconds long and compiled together in premiere pro. The background sounds were to also be removed and a music track should be added. We were all split into groups of 3 for this Exercise.
The final Video is Below
Week 5
Exercise 4
Today we taught to Color correction. Mr martin. We were told that we will be adjusting the lighting and the color of the 50 seconds video we compiled earlier.
Fig 4.1 Reference image
We were given a reference image above to be used to adjust the color of the video.
Fig 4.2 Importing reference image
Fig 4.3 Comparing the Lumetri color
I started by importing the reference image and placing it on top if the video. I the opened the Lumetri scope to see the variation of color in the scenes. Instead of adjusting each layer individually I added a new adjustment layer on top of the whole image. This allows me to make edits without effecting the original image.
Fig 4.4 Making color correction
I made the adjustments in the Lumetri panel to get the image to look as close to the reference image as possible. I also made some slight changes in white balance, shadows an highlights in each clip individually to make them more consistent.
Fig 4.5 Adding a Vignette
I then added a dark vignette around the video as I noticed a the reference image also had one. below you can see a comparison of the original video and the color corrected video.
